10:20 a.m. Update: The Post's Ylan Q. Mui reports that traffic around Union Station is a mess in the wake of the street closures. Avoid the vicinity if you can while patterns return to normal.
9:55 a.m. Update; dcfiremes just tweeted this: "update - PO @N Cap & Mass - DC F&EMS Haz Mat has determined scene is stable - no hazard - turning over to police - no sickness no transports"
Original post: North Capitol Street between Massachusetts Avenue NW and E Street is closed while police and emergency crews investigate a suspicious package. Expect traffic delays throughout the area.

It would be nice to know exactly where the package is. I work at 444 N. Capitol St NW, a block away from the closed off streets. How close to the package are we?
What's ironic is that a bunch of news organizations are located in our building!
