All roads open in Dupont Circle

6 p.m. UPDATE: Officials report that the scene is now clear and roads in the area have all reopened.

4:35 P.M. UPDATE: RealTraffic reports that 19th Street NW is closed between N Street and Dupont Circle. Emergency officials warn there are delays throughout the area and the fire could have severe impacts on the evening rush.

Piringer told The Post's Duggan that the fire is under control, and no one was injured but crews were still on the scene.

4:25 P.M. UPDATE: Check out video of the scene on the We Love DC blog.

Original post: D.C. firefighters have evacuated a building 8 to 10 stories high in the Dupont Circle area and were trying to contain a fast-moving blaze in the structure's ductwork, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said. Officials expected traffic to slow in the area.

He said the fire was reported at mid-afternoon Tuesday in the 1300 block of 19th Street NW and that the extent of the blaze required the sounding of a second alarm, bringing fire apparatus to the scene.
