Original post: D.C. firefighters have evacuated a building 8 to 10 stories high in the Dupont Circle area and were trying to contain a fast-moving blaze in the structure's ductwork, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said. Officials expected traffic to slow in the area.
He said the fire was reported at mid-afternoon Tuesday in the 1300 block of 19th Street NW and that the extent of the blaze required the sounding of a second alarm, bringing fire apparatus to the scene.
