K Street reopens after investigation

6:20 P.M. UPDATE: Traffic cameras show that K Street has reopened. Traffic is moving in both directions.

Original post: The District Department of Transportation says K Street NW is closed in the 1200 block while authorities investigate a suspicious package.

Traffic cameras show D.C. police on the scene with police units blocking all lanes.

Surrounding streets are carrying heavy volumes of traffic as motorists divert to other routes. If you can, avoid the area.
