Delays around the Beltway

5 P.M. UPDATE: Traffic near Pennsylvania and Central Avenue appears to be moving smoothly now in both directions.

4:45 P.M. UPDATE: Delays are building on South Capitol Street as Nationals and Phillies fans make their way to the ballpark for tonight's game, which starts at 7:05 p.m.

Traffic is also slow at I-495 soutbound after the I-270 Spur. Take heart; it speeds up after the American Legion Bridge.

4:22 P.M. UPDATE: It's a frustrating commute for everyone this afternoon, whether you're traveling on Metro's Yellow and Green lines are stuck in your car on the Beltway.

In addition to delays on 95 in Prince George's County, delays have been building on I-495 northbound in Virginia at Route 193 all the way to Georgia Avenue. Traffic cameras show heavy volume, although traffic is moving.

4:05 P.M. UPDATE: Delays on the inner loop start near Route 50.

Original post: RealTraffic is reporting that there is a serious accident on I-95 southbound at Ritchie Marlboro Road, causing significant delays on the inner loop. Delays are also building on the outer loop, beginning at Branch Avenue.

The traffic reporting service also says there is an accident at Branch Avenue on the outer loop, where a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder is distracting drivers.
