Green and Yellow Line delays

It's going to be a cooler morning than we've seen all week, with rain and wind combining to make rush hour extra fun. Here's a look at the traffic issues facing commuters this morning. [This post will be updated.]

9:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Delays on the Green and Yellow lines in the direction of Branch Avenue and Huntington. An earlier train malfunction at the U Street station has been resolved, but delays continue.

-- Traffic on I-495 North at I-66 remains pretty bad.

-- Construction on I-66 West at Dulles Toll Road/267 is going to block the left lane until about noon, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

8:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Fredericksburg Line train 306 appears to have arrived, albeit more than 40 minutes late! Train 308 looks like it's about to arrive (about 10 minutes late, give or take).

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Another VRE update: Fredericksburg Line train 306 has entered the District, according to VRE's real time map. It's close to Union Station at this point. It was supposed to arrive at 8:09 a.m. (Also worth noting: that map has train 308 running a bit behind because of train 306. Train 308 was supposed to arrive at 8:47 a.m.)

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The accident on Benning Road at F Street in Northeast is still blocking the second lane from the left.

-- An accident on I-95/Outer Loop at Baltimore Avenue is blocking one of the outer loop shoulders.

-- The accident on I-95 South/the Beltway at U.S. 1/Richmond Highway is still blocking the right shoulder of the off-ramp.

-- Congestion on I-495 North at I-66 has eased ever so slightly. It's still bad, but the backups have lessened slightly.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- For riders of VRE'S Fredericksburg Line -- Train 306 might see further delays because of the mechanical issues and rail traffic around Alexandria, according to VRE. It's regularly scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 8:09 a.m., but it's still in Alexandria, according to VRE's real time map.

8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- VRE riders taking the Fredericksburg Line: Train 306 is running 25 minutes late. It had stopped just north of Franconia/Springfield due to mechanical issues. The train departed Fredericksburg at 6:35 a.m. and was supposed to arrive at Union Station at 8:09 a.m.

8 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident at Benning Road and F Street in Northeast is blocking the second lane from the left on Benning Road.

-- An accident on I-95 South/the Beltway at U.S. 1/Richmond Highway is blocking the right shoulder of the off-ramp.

-- An accident on I-395 North at Edsall Road is blocking the left shoulder.

-- Traffic is very, very slow leading to I-495 North at I-66.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road is blocking the left shoulder.

-- The Z2 bus route will detour between Spartan Road and Prince Philip Drive until 2 p.m. today, according to Metro. This is due to a funeral for a Montgomery County police officer (there will be other traffic changes; expect a post shortly).

-- Route 108/Olney-Sandy Spring Road will be closed between Spartan Road and Prince Philip Drive from 7:30 a.m. until 12 p.m., also owing to the funeral taking place.

What is going on at the light at Chain Bridge Rd / N Glebe Rd right before the bridge? Has the timing changed to give priority to those from Chain Bridge Rd? Backups are terrible on Glebe/Military! Dr Gridlock can you find out?
