Headaches on the horizon
Roadwork could slow your overnight travels.
Beltway HOT lanes
These lane and ramp closures are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday.
Lanes closed
-- Three lanes of Interstate 495 north and south at Idylwood Road overpass will close for overhead power line work. Expect full closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
-- Three left lanes of I-495 south at Exit 49 (I-66 east) will close for striping and roadway repairs.
-- Three left lanes of I-495 north at Exit 52 (Little River Turnpike) will close for demolition preparation. Expect full closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
Road closed
I-495 north at Exit 49 (I-66) will close for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 49C onto I-66 west, then to Exit 62 (Nutley Street), staying to the right and following signs to I-66 east and then I-495 north.
Ramps closed
-- I-495 north ramp to Exit 49A (I-66 west) will close for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 49C, a left exit onto I-66 west.
-- The I-66 east right general purpose exit ramp to I-495 north will close for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to use the left HOV exit ramp to I-495 north.
-- The I-66 west ramp to I-495 south will close for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Exit 62 (Nutley Street), then stay right and follow signs for I-66 east, then onto I-495 south.
Dulles Metrorail project
Lane closing
The right lane of Industrial Way will close from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) for utility work.
