Headaches on the horizon

Wilson Bridge opening
The Wilson Bridge is scheduled to open at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday so the sailing vessel Peacemaker can pass underneath. All lanes on the Beltway approaching the bridge will be closed for up to half an hour.

I-295 lane closing
The District Department of Transportation plans to reopen the closed northbound lane on Interstate 295 by 5 a.m. Wednesday. The lane has been closed since after the Tuesday morning rush period so workers can repair sensors in the roadway.

It's the right through-lane just south of the Laboratory Road exit. Until the lane is reopened, stay to the left to get by.

Beltway HOT lanes
The project continues extensive overnight closings as workers build bigger bridges on the western side of the Beltway in Virginia. These closings are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday:
--Three right lanes and the collector-distributor road of I-495 north at Exit 52 (Little River Turnpike) will close for bridge demolition.
-- The entire inner loop (I-495 north) at I-66 will close for steel beam erection. Follow the detour signs to loop around the closure.
-- The entire inner loop ( I-495 west) will close at Route 644 for steel beam erection. Follow the detour signs to get back on the Beltway.
-- Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at the Beltway will close while workers pour concrete for the bridge deck. Follow the detour signs.

Metrorail night work
Red Line trains are sharing a single track after 10 p.m. between Medical Center and Friendship Heights. On the Blue and Orange lines, single tracking will occur after 10 p.m. between Federal Center and Eastern Market. On the Yellow Line, the single tracking after 10 p.m. occurs between Pentagon City and L'Enfant Plaza.

Md. Beltway closing Thursday
Late-night drivers could find as many as three right lanes on northbound I-95/I-495 (the outer loop) from Thursday night into Friday morning. The Maryland State Highway Administration will be continuing repairs on the Maryland 201 (Kenilworth Avenue) bridge over the Beltway in Greenbelt.

At 10 p.m. Thursday, the two right lanes under the bridge are scheduled to close. Between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday, drivers may encounter three closed lanes. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. This past weekend, workers began these repairs to the bridge by adding plates to strengthen one of the beams.
