Headaches on the horizon

Here are the traffic and transit delays that you are likely to face Friday night into early Saturday.

Beltway HOT lanes project
There are some major closures from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
-- Three right lanes and the collector-distributor roadway of I-495 north at Little River Turnpike will close for bridge demolition. After midnight, there will be full closures of the inner loop for up to half an hour.
-- Three left lanes on I-495 south at I-66 will close for re-striping.
-- Three right lanes of I-495 north at Gallows Road will close for removal of an overhang. After midnight, there will be full closings of the inner loop for up to half an hour.
-- Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west will close at the Beltway for bridge deck work.

Chain Bridge closing
Chain Bridge is scheduled to close completely to all travelers at 8 p.m. Friday and stay closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

Metrorail weekend work
Blue Line riders between Braddock Road and Van Dorn and Yellow Line riders between Braddock Road and Huntington should add at least 30 minutes to their normal travel time from 10 p.m. Friday through the midnight closing on Sunday.

Roosevelt Bridge repair
The District plans to do overnight repair work on ramps on the D.C. side of the Roosevelt Bridge through Tuesday night. One travel lane per ramp will be closed after the evening's rush period and re-opened each day before the morning rush.

Tysons traffic detour
The Dulles Metrorail project plans to close the left turn lane from northbound Route 123 to westbound Tysons Boulevard Friday night. The closing is scheduled to last two months. (This work had been scheduled to begin April 23.)

On Friday night, if all goes as planned, crews will close the turn lanes from both directions of Route 123 on to Tysons Boulevard to divert traffic from the closure. The project officials suggest using International Drive to reach Galleria Drive, but also encourage drivers to seek alternative routes.
