Veirs Mill Road reopened

Here are some issues facing commuters this morning:

11:30 A.M. UPDATE: Viers Mill and Randolph roads have reopened in both directions.

9:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Veirs Mill Road remains closed in both directions.

-- The Inner Loop lanes have reopened.

-- Roadwork has closed one lane of I-270 North at Muddy Branch Road (as well as one shoulder).

9:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- No change on either of the closures in Montgomery County (the Inner Loop lanes and Veirs Mill Road).

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Veirs Mill Road remains closed in both directions from Randolph Road to Connecticut Avenue. If you're taking Veirs Mill Road from the north and need to get to the other side of that closure, it's wise to get off on the Rockville Pike, take that south to Strathmore Avenue, head east, briefly head north on Connecticut and get onto University Boulevard. From the other direction, taking University Boulevard over to Knowles Avenue (which becomes Strathmore) and then taking that to Rockville Pike is probably wise. Out of your way, yes, but it gets you around the closure.

-- On I-66 East at the Beltway, the right shoulder remains closed and could cause delays.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The U.S. 29 South lane has reopened.

-- Veirs Mill Road and the Inner Loop lanes remain closed.

7:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- More problems in Montgomery County: an accident on U.S. 29 South at Briggs Chaney Road has closed one of the southbound traffic lanes. Couple that with Veirs Mill Road being closed in both directions and the two Inner Loop lane closures, and it's a bad morning to commute in those parts of the Old Line State.

7:40 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The disabled vehicle on I-95 North/the Beltway at Telegraph Road has been moved.

-- Veirs Mill Road remains closed in both directions.

-- The two Inner Loop lanes are also still closed.

7:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Veirs Mill Road remains closed in both directions.

-- An accident on I-66 East has closed the left shoulder at the Beltway.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-95 North/the Beltway at Telegraph Road is blocking the left shoulder.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on Veirs Mill Road at Gridley Road and Connecticut Avenue has closed Veirs Mill in both directions.

-- Due to the earlier accident on I-270 South, there is now just one lane closed (as well as one of the shoulders).

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-270 South at I-370 has closed two southbound lanes and one of the southbound shoulders.

-- According to Pepco's StormCenter outage map, the power in Northeast (near North Capitol Street and Michigan Avenue) has been restored.

ORIGINAL POST:

-- Two lanes of I-495/Inner Loop are closed from Connecticut Avenue to the Rockville Pike due to roadwork that began last night. One of the Inner Loop shoulders is closed as well.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-95 North in Lorton has closed the right shoulder.

-- A power outage just east of the intersection of North Capitol Street and Michigan Avenue in Northwest could slow commuters in the area. Pepco's StormCenter estimates that power could be restored by 8 a.m., but the area could still see issues around the Michigan Avenue and 7th Street intersection in Northeast, particularly around Catholic University and the Brookland Metro station.
