All clear at National Airport
2:40 P.M. UPDATE: Yingling said the item was examined and found not to be dangerous, and the evacuation was lifted at about 2:30 p.m. He said he did not know what the item was.
"They did not find anything dangerous," he said. "The incident lasted approximately one hour and affected mainly the baggage area."

2:35 P.M. UPDATE: Airports authority officials have said it is all clear at Reagan National Airport.
Original post: Officials are investigating a suspicious package at Reagan National Airport. A portion of the B/C Terminal has been evacuated.
Rob Yingling, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Airports Authority, said part of Reagan National Airport has been evacuated while officials investigate a "suspicious item" in the baggage claim area of the airport's terminal B/C.
"The airport is open and operating," he said. He said the evacuation began at about 1:30 p.m. and was in the area around the item. He said he did not know specifically what the item was or exactly where it was in the bag claim area.
