Beltway crawling in VA
It's going to be a warm and sunny day. But what about the morning rush hour? Here's a look at traffic issues facing commuters this morning:
8:30 A.M. UPDATE:
-- There's congestion on I-395 South at Duke Street.
-- And the Beltway congestion continues in Virginia, with I-495 North leading to I-66 still slow.
8:05 A.M. UPDATE:
-- Good news: The I-495 North traffic leading to I-66 is slightly better. Bad news: Just slightly. It's still congested as you wind around the southwest corner of the Beltway.
-- In other good news, MARC trains are currently running on time and have no other deer-related incidents this morning.
7:45 A.M. UPDATE:
-- It's a weekday, so that means I-495 North is crawling heading towards I-66.
-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-495 North at Braddock Road, blocking the right shoulder. So that could add additional traffic in that spot.
-- Traffic remains heavy on I-66 East at Nutley Street.
7:25 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The lanes on I-270 North have reopened.
-- I-495 North is very slow at Gallows Road.
-- I-66 East is congested leading up to Nutley Street. There's a disabled vehicle on the shoulder on I-66 East at Nutley, which is contributing to the congestion.
-- I-95 North is also pretty congested leading up to the Springfield Interchange.
7:05 A.M. UPDATE:
Well, this is something different: MARC Brunswick Line train 874 is running 20 minutes late at the Metropolitan Grove stop because it hit a deer. The train, which departed Martinsburg at 5:25 a.m., is normally scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 7:28 a.m.
6:50 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident on I-270 North before MD 117 in Gaithersburg is blocking two northbound lanes and one of the shoulders.
-- The shoulder on I-395 North has been reopened at Seminary Road, but the roadway is still moving slowly at Duke Street.
6:30 A.M. UPDATE:
-- MD 201 is going to be slowed southbound due to debris in the road at 52nd Avenue in Hyattsville.
-- There's also debris in the roadway on I-95/Outer Loop before MD 4, so Outer Loop traffic might be impacted.
-- Traffic is getting slow on I-395 North at Duke Street. An accident on I-395 North at Seminary Road is blocking the left shoulder and likely causing the delays.

MD 201 is slow at 52nd Avenue in "Hyattsville"?
First, MD 201 does not pass anywhere near Hyattsville (map http://www.hyattsville.org/DocumentView.aspx?DID=269)
Second, 52nd Ave and MD 201 run parallel to each other, and do not intersect...
