Fire engulfs Arlington bus

7:15 a.m. Update: WJLA reports that no passengers were aboard the bus and the driver evacuated safely.



Original post, May 10: Arlington Transit reports that North Pershing Drive between North Wayne Street and Route 50 is shut down because of an ART Bus fire. Officials said drivers should expect traffic disruptions for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Did not see the actual accident, but when I got off the McPherson Square Metro, there had been an accident between a car and a bus at 14th and H Street, NW. The car was in the curb lane at the corner on the northbound side of 14th Street and the bus was parked on H Street. The car had a lot of damage to the front. When I walked by, no police or other vehicles had arrived on the scene. Hope all are OK.

That was a cool video. Too bad it shuts off right as the fire engine arrives! I would have liked to see how quickly the flames were put out.
