I-495 N lane blocked at I-66

9:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The disabled vehicle has been moved from I-495 before Colesville Road.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-495 North at I-66 is blocking the north right center lane. I-495 North is always heavily crowded heading towards I-66, so this is going to exacerbate the situation; avoid if possible.

-- I-395 North remains very crowded at the 14th Street Bridge and at several points between the bridge and the Springfield Interchange.

-- I-95 North remains congested before the Springfield Interchange.

8:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The accident on I-495/Outer Loop past New Hampshire Avenue has been cleared.

-- But now a disabled vehicle is blocking one lane of I-495/Inner Loop before Colesville Road.

-- I-66 East remains packed at the Beltway.

-- I-395 North remains a trouble spot to the 14th Street Bridge.

-- An accident on I-495 North at Route 7/Leesburg Pike could slow traffic.

8:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-495/Outer Loop past New Hampshire Avenue is blocking one of the shoulders and could cause delays.

-- I-66 East is backed up at the Beltway.

-- I-395 North and I-95 North remain trouble spots -- I-395 North for much of the roadway, I-95 North leading to the Springfield Interchange.

-- The B2 Metrobus route will experience delays in the District due to construction between Bladensburg Road and Mount Olive Street.

8 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-95 North is very congested just before the Springfield Interchange. It's also very congested further back in Lorton.

-- An accident on I-95 South at the Springfield Interchange could cause delays.

-- I-395 North is still very, very congested.

7:35 A.M. UPDATE:

The lanes of I-95/Outer Loop to the south of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway have reopened. A potentially related development: I-95 is a parking lot heading northbound from U.S. 50, Post traffic editor Michael Bolden reports. The traffic backups are likely due to the earlier lane closures, which could have caused traffic to back up onto I-95.

7:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Not wanting to be left out, other parts of I-395 North are now congested and slow. There are backups at the 14th Street Bridge and King Street, in addition to the Seminary Road backups.

-- I-95 North is backed up badly leading to Lorton.

-- A disabled vehicle is blocking the left shoulder of the ramp from US-236 West to I-395 South, which could cause delays.

-- A vehicle fire on I-95/Outer Loop south of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway is blocking two lanes of the Outer Loop and one of the shoulders.

6:55 A.M. UPDATE:

I-395 North is seeing worse congestion now, stretching from Seminary Road back to the Springfield Interchange.

6:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's still congestion on I-395 North at Seminary Road.

-- I-95 North's shoulder remains closed in Lorton.

6:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Traffic is still congested on I-395 North at Seminary Road.

-- An accident on I-95 North in Lorton is blocking the left shoulder of the northbound H.O.V. lanes, which could cause delays for people heading through that area.
