I-495 South blocked at I-66
Here's a look at the headaches facing commuters this morning:
9:10 A.M. UPDATE:
-- Now only the right shoulder is closed on I-495 South at I-66.
-- The traffic has also abated somewhat on I-495 North leading to I-66.
8:55 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The accident on I-495 South at I-66 is now blocking the right lane and right shoulder. Traffic can get by to the left, but expect some delays due to the lane being blocked.
-- And it's still very heavy traffic on I-495 North leading up to I-66.
8:25 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident on I-495 South at I-66 is blocking the right center lane, right lane and right shoulder. With traffic only getting by in the left lanes, expect delays.
-- And there are still delays and backups on I-495 North at I-66.
-- The Outer Loop debris has been cleared.
8:10 A.M. UPDATE:
-- I-495 North is still very backed up leading to I-66.
-- However, I-395 North and I-66 East -- normally sluggish trouble spots, prone to turn any commute into an endless sea of brake lights and broken, weary souls -- are actually faring reasonably well right now. Knock on wood, I guess. (Sorry if I just jinxed your commute, folks!)
-- There's debris in the road on I-95/Outer Loop at U.S. 1, which could slow Outer Loop traffic.
7:45 A.M. UPDATE:
-- I-495 North is now very backed up leading to I-66.
-- The disabled vehicles have been cleared from I-395 North and I-495 North.
7:20 A.M. UPDATE:
-- A disabled vehicle on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard could snarl traffic just shy of the 14th Street Bridge.
-- There's also a disabled vehicle on I-495 North at Gallows Road is on the right shoulder, but the area is already highly congested.
6:55 A.M. UPDATE:
-- There's major congestion on I-495 North leading to Gallows Road.
-- The accident on I-95/Outer Loop has been cleared.
6:15 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident on I-95/Outer Loop after Pennsylvania Avenue/MD 4 in Prince George's County could slow Outer Loop traffic.
-- The accident on I-66 East has been cleared.
ORIGINAL POST:
-- An accident on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road could cause a delay for eastbound travelers.
