Central Ave blocked near Beltway

Here's a look at the commuting headaches facing drivers this morning:

9 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A disabled vehicle on I-495 North between Route 7 and I-66 is blocking the right lane, so expect added delays.

-- I-495 North is already congested at I-66, as always.

-- I-66 East is still backed up at Nutley and Sudley.

-- An accident on MD 295 North at John Hanson Highway is blocking one northbound lane and one of the shoulders.

-- There was also an accident on I-95/Inner Loop at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, which could cause delays.

-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-495/Outer Loop before Connecticut Avenue, blocking one of the Outer Loop lanes.

-- An accident on I-270 South at Rockledge Boulevard could slow southbound traffic.

-- The earlier accidents on I-95 South, I-95/Inner Loop at U.S. 50 and I-495/Outer Loop after Georgia Avenue have been cleared.

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Central Avenue lanes remain blocked.

-- An accident on I-95 South at MD 212 is blocking one of the southbound shoulders.

-- An accident on I-95/Inner Loop at U.S. 50 in Prince George's County is blocking one Inner Loop lane and one of the Inner Loop shoulders.

-- There was also an accident on I-495/Outer Loop after Georgia Avenue.

-- The delays on I-95 North before the Springfield Interchange are likely to get worse -- an accident there might block some lanes and cause further delays.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-395 North just after the Springfield Interchange might also cause some delays; it's blocking the left shoulder.

8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An emergency water main repair is blocking two westbound lanes of Central Avenue/MD 214 between Brightseat Road and Ritchie Road in Hyattsville. This is just east of where Central Avenue and the Beltway meet.

-- The disabled vehicle has been moved from I-495/Outer Loop.

-- Traffic remains very heavy on I-395 North and I-66 East.

-- There's also bad congestion on I-95 North leading to the Springfield Interchange.

-- And I-95 South/the Beltway remains slow at Van Dorn Street. The shoulder has reopened, but delays remain.

7:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The I-95 South/Beltway accident at Van Dorn Street is still blocking the left shoulder, and now there are delays there.

-- I-66 East is very, very backed up at Sudley Road and Nutley Street.

-- I-495 North is also very congested at I-66.

-- The I-495 South lane has reopened at Route 7/Leesburg Pike.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-495/Outer Loop before University Boulevard could slow Outer Loop traffic.

7:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-95 South/the Beltway at Van Dorn Street is blocking the left shoulder.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-495 South at Leesburg Pike is blocking the southbound left lane.

-- I-395 North is heavily congested.

-- I-66 East is backed up at Nutley and Sudley.

-- There's an accident on I-495 North at Arlington Boulevard and it's blocking the right shoulder.

-- The Inner Loop lanes have reopened at University Boulevard.

7 A.M. UPDATE:

A driver on I-395 reports a strong police presence in the H.O.V. lanes this morning, with several police cars having pulled over drivers in those lanes. It's possible they are checking to see if people are abiding by the H.O.V. rules. Be wary, whether you're breaking the rules or not (even if you're not, this could cause delays).

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-495/Inner Loop after University Boulevard/MD 193 involving three vehicles is blocking one lane and one of the shoulders.

-- There's pretty bad congestion on I-95 North to the south of the Springfield Interchange.

-- I-66 East is heavily congested at Nutley Street.

6:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The disabled vehicle has been moved from I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road, but congestion is building up in the same area. Expect delays.

-- The disabled vehicle on I-495 North has also been moved.

ORIGINAL POST:

-- A disabled vehicle on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road is blocking the east right shoulder and could cause delays.

-- There's also a disabled vehicle on I-495 North at Gallows Road, blocking the north right shoulder and also causing potential delays.
