NTSB probes ferry crash

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are at the scene of a ferry crash that injured dozens on Staten Island.

They're gathering data to figure out what happened about 9:20 a.m. Saturday, when the ferry malfunctioned and smashed into a pier. A briefing is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The Andrew J. Barberi that hit a pier at St. George Ferry Terminal was the same ferry involved in a 2003 wreck that killed 11 people. The ship had a multimillion-dollar rehabilitation before it was put back in service.
