Officers ride to remember fallen
If you're traveling on Route 1 and see a group of police officers on bicycles Thursday or Friday, it's part of an effort by RIchmond police to honor fellow officers who died in the line of duty.
The Bike for the Blue memorial ride began at 6 a.m. Thursday at the state Capitol in Richmond.
According to Richmond.com, about 30 officers are participating in the ride.
The officers are scheduled to ride 117 miles north on U.S.1 to the District, where they'll meet other officers from across the country for a memorial ceremony. According to Richmond.com, the group should arrive by 6:30 p.m. Friday.
