Person spotted on Orange Line tracks

UPDATE 8:10p.m.: Trains appear to be running on schedule.

Original post: The Orange Line is experiencing delays at the tail end of rush hour due to reports of an unauthorized person on the tracks near Deanwood.

At about 7:20, Metro reported that there was a person on the track bed who should not have been there, and began single-tracking trains between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly. Shortly after, it said the situation had been rectified, but warned that delays continue.

Metro officials have reason to be skittish about the situation. Last month, a person committed suicide by placing himself on the tracks at the Cheverly station--one stop from Deanwood--on a Saturday, when the station is mostly devoid of other passengers.
