School bus hits tree in McLean
A school bus crashed head-on into a tree at about noon today in Fairfax County, trapping the driver and prompting heavy rescue equipment to respond to the scene.
There were no children onboard the bus when the incident occurred at Kirby Road and Barbee Street, near Haycock Elementary and Longfellow Intermediate schools. A fire official said injuries were not life-threatening.

Texting is a possibility, but not definite cause.

I hope the driver is OK. Our bus drivers are wonderful people and they do a very difficult job with a lot of grace. <3

Yes, it takes a lot of grace to sit calmly while the bus you are driving sits in the intersection blocking oncoming traffic with a green light.
It takes a lot of grace to kill pedestrians in crosswalks.
It takes a lot of grace to run a bus into a tree.
All we need is grace.

I think it is important to remember that its called an accident because it is not planned, nor intentional. I hope that the driver is ok after it took hours to be removed from the bus. Luckily there were no children on the bus.
