Train strikes dump truck in PG
A dump truck crossing an unguarded railroad track in an industrial area off Kenilworth Avenue was hit by a slow-moving CSX train at about 3:30 this afternoon, causing a release of diesel fuel and prompting a haz-mat team to respond, a fire official said.
"The truck apparently was trying to beat the train, or at least attempting to cross. The train did significant damage to the dump truck and caused the release of about 50 gallons of diesel fuel," said Prince George's fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady.
An adult male driver was transported to an area hospital with very minor injuries, he added. Police are investigating.
