Dump truck overturns on 295

3:28 p.m. Update: According to official District alerts, northbound lanes of 295 are blocked. However, southbound travelers should expect problems due to rubbernecking and the volume of equipment on the scene.

3:25 p.m. Update: According to D.C. Fire / EMS spokesman, it was unclear whether the accident occurred in the southbound or northbound lanes. However, Piringer said the entire route would be affected due to the quantity of equipment that was responding to the scene, including a hazmat team and a heavy-duty wrecker.

"It is unusual," he said.

Piringer said other accidents were reported about the same time north of the dump truck scene, which would contribute to the traffic problems in the area.
