More Metrorail work ahead
Metro completed its Memorial Day weekend work on the Orange Line as part of the Dulles Corridor project to extend rail to the airport, with more than 36,000 people taking shuttle buses that filled in service gaps. More work is scheduled on upcoming weekends on the project, including the construction of a pier and replacing track ties. In addition to work on the Orange Line, major track repair work will take place during weekends this month on the Red, Blue and Green lines, causing delays and longer travel times, according to Metro.

The weekend and beyond
The Capital Weather Gang says travelers should watch out for showers late Saturday and into Sunday. The big construction bottlenecks over the weekend are at Chain Bridge and on the Beltway's inner loop west of the Wilson Bridge. But there are plenty of other traffic and transit issues in this weekend's alerts.

The weekend and beyond
The local travel forecast looks great, according to the Capital Weather Gang, and there will be plenty of people on the roads Sunday for Mother's Day. You don't want to keep Mom waiting, so watch out for a variety of events that may slow your progress, and of course, there's the usual weekend work on Metrorail.
