Furniture Within Reach
With all the pricey furniture stores that have opened recently, it should comfort more-modest spenders to know that West Elm, the lower-priced contemporary sibling in the Williams-Sonoma chain, and the more traditional Z Gallerie are scheduled to open in Tysons Corner this fall. The other good news is that the West Elm chain will open another location next summer in the former Woodward & Lothrop building on 10th and F streets NW. Furniture buyers on a budget, rejoice.

So what are some nice furniture stores that won't kill your budget already in the area (Fairfax)?

There's a great family-owned furniture store in Merrifield -- Stanis. They have a big, changing selection, good sales, free delivery (within reason) and great service. If you special order something, e.g. choose the fabric and wood stain, and don't like it when it shows up -- full refund. I don't think they advertise and only learned of this place from a salesperson at another furniture store.

If you like solid wood, handmade furniture, Authentically Amish Fine Furnishings is a great store. They offer Amish made furniture at a reasonable price. Located in the Foxchase Shopping Ctr on Duke St, Alexandria.
Simple styles Mission and Shaker. I have several pieces from there.

wow, the day has finally come. Been ordering from them for a couple years and they are definitely on the 'budget' level in my opinion. Not budget like Ikea, but noone really is... You won't find much of this style for this price anywhere else. quality is ok but not superb... when it comes to furniture you really pay for what you get!

That "budget" better be a generous one because West Elm is no Ikea, so to speak.
E.g. first thing I see on their Web site, "basic upholstered ottoman," $350. That's an ottoman, folks.
