Nanny O'Brien's: Still Open
If you've been keeping an eye on our weekly Got Plans? discussion, you may have noticed a growing stream of questions about the fate of Nanny O'Brien's, the Cleveland Park pub known for its traditional Irish jam session and well-poured pints of Guinness. Rumors have been swirling about Nanny's imminent closure, but staff have denied those stories.
Here's the latest update from owner Brian Gaffney: "As of now, we're open and we will be open," he told me yesterday. "There are some things going down, but I can't really comment on it because I don't know what's going to happen right now."
"Some things going down" doesn't sound too promising, but we'll try to stay abreast of the situation. In the meantime, you may want to head over to the dimly lit pub for a pint of Smithwick's and some live Irish music. You know, just in case.

A few thoughts:
There's been no live music since August now.
There's been no food since September.
I swear they've stopped cleaning the place - the smell has become almost unbearable.
Brian hasn't been seen in there since August - at least not by anyone not on staff.
I love this bar, and have since it opened. I'm pretty upset, as it is obvious that something serious is going on.

I can't figure out how to start a new question on this blog, SO, can anyone recommend a sort of hip hair salon in the greater Arlington area, not too expensive (even as I write that, it sounds sorta unlikely)
thanks

Word on the street is that the space may be sold to the same people that own Atomic, the pool hall down the way. If that's true, let's hope they don't change it too much.
There are very few good, regular bars left in DC. Soon we'll all be forced to go to those trendy places that charge $6.50 for a beer.
