Apples and Wine: Making Amends
In yesterday's Got Plans?, I steered someone astray. The person was looking for a way to combine apple picking with wine tasting and I pointed to Tarara Winery -- a vineyard with its own orchard. Then this came in:
"RE: Apples and Wine: Sadly, according to Tarara's Web site, there are no more apples to be picked this season..."
I didn't see the follow up question until we were closing down the chat, so I wanted to post today with another option for the do-it-all fall person.
We are nearing the end of the apple-picking season, so many of the orchards have closed their gates for the fall. As one orchard worker told me today, "We've got a few Granny Smiths on the branches, but that's about it."
But up in Maryland, Larriland Farms is still picking. Pick-your-own peeps can stock up on Pink Ladies, Granny Smiths and broccoli this weekend, which is also Larriland's final one of the season.
That is, assuming you want to think about summer on a day like tomorrow.
