Blockbuster Days: 'Indiana Jones'

"Wait a second ... didn't we see this same skeleton at the Museum of Natural History?" (Paramount Pictures)
Indiana Jones returns to movie screens with the opening of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" tonight at midnight. (Spoiler alert: Short Round is not in this installment.)
The high-profile Harrison Ford sequel is playing just about everywhere, so finding a theater shouldn't be hard. But what can you do to get into an Indy mindset prior to catching the flick? Here are a few suggestions:
Shop for a Fedora: You can't walk the Indiana Jones walk without the Indiana Jones hat. Try on a few for size at one of these Hats in the Belfry locations and see if any of them transform you into an archaeologist with an insatiable taste for adventure.
Uncover Ancient Treasures: The Museum of Natural History is currently hosting an exhibit on the Amazon, where much of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" takes place. And the museum is already home to all kinds of interesting artifacts and creepy-crawly things, a staple of the Indy franchise. There is even a crystal skull at the museum, but it isn't on display. Jane Walsh, a Smithsonian anthropologist, keeps it hidden away in her office.
An Indian Meal: Yes, in "Temple of Doom," Dr. Jones travels to India. But you don't have to chow down on the same grotesque food he and Kate Capshaw were served. Have a pre-movie lunch or dinner at an Indian restaurant near your theater of choice -- perhaps Heritage India if you are seeing the movie down the street in Georgetown, Rasika if you're hitting Gallery Place or Indique if you opt for the best theater around, the Uptown.

Just wanted to warn readers, this movie is SO not worth the money (this is coming from a HUUUGE Indiana Jones fan), except for the first hour, which is classic Indy - the end left alot of folks in my midnight showing going "what the??? ugh!!!!" and leaving really ticked off...
just be forewarned if you go, expect to want to fly to Cali to find George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, slap them silly, and demand your $10 back.
