LiLo and SamRon at Lotus

By Fritz Hahn

Yes, Lindsay Lohan attended girlfriend Samantha Ronson's DJ gig at Lotus Lounge last night. But no, unless you were at the very, very front of the $1,500-a-table VIP section, you didn't see LiLo, who spent the whole night hanging out in the DJ booth. The club set up a screen to prevent prying eyes (and camera phones) from getting a good look at the actress, though she was occasionally visible for a few seconds when she got up to whisper in SamRon's ear, or dance around to some of the hip-hop and soul that Ronson was deftly mashing up. (For the record: LiLo was wearing a red tank top, had her hair down and looked healthy and, dare I say it, glowing. SamRon was rocking a black Guns N' Roses t-shirt and a serious expression for most of the night.)

Lotus itself was less of a madhouse than I expected when I got there around midnight -- there was a much longer line to get into the Park at 14th's Howard Homecoming party -- but there were still a number of young women clustered around the red carpet at the club's front door, trying to talk their way past the bouncers sporting Secret Service-style earpieces. (On the way in, I heard one earpiece-wearing dude sending a club employee out to CVS to pick up a couple packs of Marlboro Reds for the guests of honor.) Even if you were on the sidewalk, you could keep up with the action in the club, courtesy of a live black-and-white camera feed from the DJ booth that was broadcast on a flat-screen outside the club.

The crowd was older than usual -- it was a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network, and I have to wonder whether the $40 cover charge drove away some of the Lohanistas -- but everyone was getting down to Ronson's quick-cut set that took in Bell Biv DeVoe, Michael Jackson (with an a capella intro of the diss verses from Eminem's "Just Lose It"), James Brown, Jay-Z and Estelle, and proved she's more than just a celebrity DJ. I'd check her out again, even if her significant other wasn't in the building. In fact, when the dry ice clouds were enveloping the dance floor, you couldn't see anyone famous anyway.

Did you make it out to the club? Did you see the chaos when Lohan and Ronson arrived at Union Station yesterday? Do you wish they'd just go away? Let us know in the comments.

UPDATE: This is what I get for not being Lindsay's friend on MySpace: While the party was going on at Lotus, LiLo was blogging about her experience.

I opened for Sam last night at Lotus, and I must say, it was an "eventful" night. Samantha was extremely nice...to me at least. Hope everyone had a great time.
