Thievery Corporation to Open For Paul McCartney

By David Malitz

Just got word that Thievery Corporation will be the opening act for Saturday's Paul McCartney concert at FedEx Field. It won't be a full band performance; it will be a DJ set from the local downbeat duo of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. That should get everyone nice and loose for Macca and his parade of hits.

We'll be talking more about that show and the logistics of getting to FedEx Field in Got Plans? See you in there shortly.

Thankfully, I was in line at the Johnny Rockets stand for most of the time that this DJ duo was assaulting our ears with that dreck. What an insult to the customers to force that upon us. Until I read this article, I just assumed that these guys were called up from the audience to goof off after the real opening act was a no-show.

I know the headliner never wants to get upstaged by the opening act, but this was truly ridiculous.

McCartney was superb, so the bad memory of this opening act was soon dissipated.

The DJ's STUNK!! What a waste to our eardrums.

I enjoyed the DJs quite a bit, however, I like that sort of music anyway. I think it was an unusual selection for the very mixed crowd who attended the concert. And really, who do you get to open for Paul McCartney? That's not an easy job to have! You're definitely not going to please everyone.
