$5-or-less deal: Radius' Slice and a Pint Happy Hour
Feeling hungry at happy hour? At most D.C. bars, you'd be lucky if $5 got you a couple of wings to go with a bottle of same-old lager. That's not the case at Mount Pleasant's Radius Pizza restaurant, where the daily $5 happy hour includes a large-but-not-jumbo slice of New York-style cheese pizza and a choice of any of the beers on draft: the Belgian-style Ommegang Witte, the darker Flemish Grimbergen Dubbel and Italy's Peroni. What makes this a deal? For comparison's sake, pizza is regularly $3 a slice, and the beers usually sell for $6 or $7 a glass.
Attention, football fans: As some friends and I found after a Redskins game, the deal - along with half-price beers -- is offered whenever there's an NFL game playing on the flatscreen TVs behind the bar.
