If January and February are traditionally slow months on the live music circuit, March always more than makes up for it. The weather gets warmer, more bands hit the road and all of a sudden there are multiple can't-miss shows every week. Some of this month's highlights include a rare visit from L.A.'s king of all things funky, Dam Funk; Brazilian icon Gilberto Gil; scruffy New Zealand indie rockers Surf City (who open for Woods); and reinvigorated metal heroes Anvil.
For a complete list of this month's picks, check out the March Mixtape best bets list. After the jump, listen to streaming tracks from many of this month's featured artists.
