Hello, Dining Guide. Goodbye, Julia.
Tom Sietsema's 2010 Spring Dining Guide is officially live on the Web. For this season's guide, Tom revisited 20 local restaurants -- some old faves, some recent flops -- to see how they're holding up today. Find out the results of his taste tests here -- and check out the video embedded below. How's the Great Falls fixture known as L'Auberge Chez François doing after all these years? Video journalist Mark Abramson finds out.
Today also marks my last day as one of the Gurus. Couldn't let the moment pass without thanking all of you for hanging out with me every Thursday between 1 and 2 p.m. Mechanical bulls, karaoke, cupcakes and wine pairings: we've dished about them all. You've made me laugh every week with some off-the-wall question and you've reminded me repeatedly just how many smart, fun people we have crammed into our city. To all the restaurateurs, chefs, bartenders, artists and gallery owners who I've been lucky enough to cover, your passion has been nothing short of inspiring.
As for me, I'm not going far. I'm going to be an editor in the Post's mobile department. Got ideas for how The Post could better hook you up on cell phone? Holla at me: julia.beizer (at) washingtonpost.com
Thanks again for an amazing five years.
