Summer Cinema 2010
The National Theatre is dedicating its summer movie series, which begins Monday and runs through Aug. 16, to Cary Grant. There are seven chances to catch the suave actor in a variety of genres -- screwball comedy ("Bringing Up Baby") to sob-inducing romance ("An Affair to Remember") to Hitchcockian suspense ("Notorious"). For the first installment, take a trip to the French Riviera with "To Catch a Thief." The 1955 escapade follows Grant's character, recovering jewel thief Robie, as he tries to track down his copycat burglar before the police arrest Robie for the crimes. And he does it all while romancing an oil heiress played by Grace Kelly.
Free tickets are distributed starting at 6 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
