Hot tickets: Drake, Virgin Mobile FreeFest, Dirty Projectors

Music critic Chris Richards already wrote about how awesome this year's Virgin Mobile FreeFest lineup is, so we'll just say that we totally agree and point you in the direction of the upcoming Drake show. The actor-turned-rapper's musical career has taken off in 2010 with the release of his critically acclaimed debut "Thank Me Later," which boasted appearances by Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and T.I. After playing the 9:30 Club back in June, he will be moving up to DAR Constitution Hall on Oct. 2. Tickets are $50-$65 and go on sale sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly for Dirty Projectors and Owen Pallett, Sept. 7 at 9:30 Club ($20).
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, Oct. 6 at Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena ($37.50-$47.50).
Tickets go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for the following shows at the Birchmere:
• Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Nov. 2 ($25).
• Ian Anderson, Nov. 15 ($79.50).
Free tickets will be available beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. ($125 premium tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.) through Ticketfly for Virgin Mobile FreeFest featuring M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem, Pavement, T.I., Ludacris, Joan Jett, Thievery Corporation, Matt & Kim, Jimmy Eat World, the Temper Trap, Sleigh Bells, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Yeasayer, Sept. 25 at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for Guster Oct. 23 at DAR Constitution Hall ($34).
Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Rams Head Live for Dandy Warhols, Nov. 8 at Rams Head Live ($25).
Free tickets will be available beginning Monday (July 26) at 10 a.m. for Cambodian American Heritage, Aug. 7 at Freer Gallery.
