Getting Up Guide: Redskins and zombies
What are your plans tonight? The Getting Up Guide is here to help you answer that question. Here's what's happening on Tuesday:
Redskins Training Camp
If last Friday's decisive victory over the Bills has you chanting "Hail victory," maybe a visit to Ashburn is in order. Only a few days remain to head to open practices at Redskins Park to show your support before the season gets underway.
'Hard Rock Zombies'
On Tuesday nights, the Washington Psychotronic Film Society brings schlocky B-movies, forgotten '60s low-budget films and underground "classics" to the Warehouse Theatre. (You have to enter the theater speakeasy-style through the back of the Passenger bar on Seventh Street, which has the advantage of allowing you to get a drink on the way.) Tonight's choice is a doozy: Hard Rock Zombies, about a hapless '80s metal band that can't stop rocking out -- even after they're killed by Hitler (who's hiding out in California) and turned into zombies. Yeah. It's that bad. Hilariously bad. The film is free, though a $2 donation to the Film Society is requested.
Lyle Lovett and his Large Band
The clever singer-songwriter dips into his country and folk, among other genres, to perform with his band at Wolf Trap
