Free and easy events
This week's free events include Arts on Foot and Adams Morgan Day.
Monday
'Staged'
Part of the Page-to-Stage Festival, Washington Improv Theatre gets the audience in on the act with this off-the-cuff performance about, well, putting on a performance.
Tuesday
'Cat in the Cage'
You can always count on the Washington Psychotronic Film Society to bring you old movies that are three steps beyond weird with bad acting. Even the titular cat gets bad reviews for this one.
Wednesday
Arts on Foot
Hit the streets in the name of art as this four-day open-air market gets underway. Taste wine and sample food from local eateries while exploring works by more than 100 artisans. On Saturday, the Arts on Foot Festival ups the entertainment with culinary demonstrations and live performances at Sidney Harman Hall.
Thursday
Brown Bag Thursdays at Signature Theatre
Signature Theatre's monthly discussion that gives theatergoers a peek behind the curtain features "Chess" star and Tony-winning actor Euan Morton.
Friday
Bruce Swaim
The Jazz in the Garden season comes to a close with a show featuring the versatile local tenor saxophonist.
Saturday
DC VegFest
Move aside, meat-eaters. Learn about and celebrate the vegetarian lifestyle with cooking demonstrations by chefs Lauren Von Der Pool and Tal Ronnen, author of "The Conscious Cook." Sit in for panel discussions on such topics as vegan bodybuilding and increasing longevity through plant-based diets.
Sunday
Takoma Park Folk Festival
Now in its 33rd year, Takoma Park's annual Folk Festival is a community favorite, with an arts and crafts area, music and dance, and lots and lots of ethnic food.
