Hot tickets: Die Antwoord, Guided by Voices, Seth Meyers

By Alex Baldinger

The Zef flow comes to D.C. after all. Die Antwoord hit the 9:30 Club stage on Oct. 27 (Courtesy of the artist)

Die Antwoord may have bailed on Virgin Mobile FreeFest, but fear not Zef enthusiasts, the rap group from South Africa will still grace us with its presence, on Oct. 27 at the 9:30 Club. Alas, it will not be free. Part Andy Kaufmanesque (or should we start saying Joaquin Phoenixesque?) hoax and part Internet meme, the group stormed into the collective conscious earlier this year with rapid-fire raps about ninjas and Zef -- a slang term for "the ultimate style" -- and a music video with a supposed interview on their origins and a now-infamous slow motion shot focusing on, ahem, a pair of Pink Floyd-emblazoned boxers. Whether you go to enjoy the music or to take it in as a performance stunt, this show promises to be, if nothing else, a spectacle. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. and cost $20.
