Music for Saturday

If you're looking for someplace to go dancing on Saturday night, here are two wildly divergent but highly recommended options: retro-minded Britpop at the next-to-last Mousetrap at the Black Cat and forward-thinking funky house and techno from Malente at U Street Music Hall.

Travis Timberlake to join Spike Mendelsohn at Good Stuff group

There is a bit of a shake-up on Capitol Hill this Winter. No. Not that one. I'm talking about Travis Timberlake, who will be leaving his position as executive chef at Art and Soul to join Spike Mendelsohn as the director of operations for his Good Stuff restaurant group. Timberlake will stay on with Art and Soul through the end of the year, so the restaurant has a bit of time to look for their new executive chef. In the meantime their menu will remain the same, and its unlikely there will be any big changes anytime soon.

Two great tastes tonight

Tonight, you could go to the same-old happy hour and drink the same-old pilsners you had last week. But why do that when you can try rare one-of-a-kind brews from Germany at a special four-course beer dinner, or explore new art and sip Belgian beers at a special gallery-and-bar-hop adventure on U Street?
