A great day for fans of local beers

By Fritz Hahn

Attention, fans of the local-is-better beer movement: This is a big day for Delmarva breweries. We already know that Delaware's Dogfish Head is offering a special deal at the three D.C.-area Dogfish Head Ale Houses: Get $20 of food and drink free when you spend $33 today or tomorrow. (Read the full blog post for all the details.)

Not to be outdone, Maryland's DuClaw Brewing Company is holding its annual "All draft beers for $1" event at all three of its pubs, including Bowie Town Center, which is the nearest DuClaw location to Washington. (The others are in Arundel Mills and Bel Air; see the DuClaw Web site for "_blank">maps and directions.) Unlike the Dogfish Head deal, there's no minimum tab or need to remember to print out a voucher. Just show up at the bar, order a pint of one of the house beers -- I recommend the hoppy Serum double IPA and the Venom pale ale -- and it's yours for a buck. The offer's good from 11 a.m. to midnight.
