Getting Up Guide: Trans-Siberian Orchestra; Slurpee Summit
What are your plans tonight? The Getting Up Guide is here to help you answer that question. Here's what's happening Thursday:
Oh yeah, 'tis the season for prog rock, castles, wizards, flame towers, leather-clad dancers and headbanging: How else would you suggest channeling your holiday spirit than with chugging power chords atop some of your favorite holiday melodies? The seasonal shredding starts at 7:30 p.m.
The Slurpee Summit
What do Slurpees have in common with Blues Traveler? Nothing, but they'll both be present at the Slurpee Summit at CityCenterDC, where you can check out ice sculptures, quaff 7-11's new "Purple for the People" beverage in the name of bi-partisanship or listen to the 90's alternative radio stalwarts play "Run-Around."
Duffy's Wing Tasting
Duffy's Irish Pub is a great spot for a pre- or post-9:30 Club drink, and it also has awesome chicken wings. Because the kitchen is unveiling three new flavors this week -- Chesapeake, spicy BBQ and sweet-and-spicy Asian -- you can get free samples at happy hour. All you have to do is RSVP on the Duffy's Facebook page and stop by between 5 and 7. Wash the wings down with $3 PBR tallboy cans. There's no cover charge.
