Getting Up Guide: Matt Taibbi; Neko Case on photography
What are your plans tonight? The Getting Up Guide is here to help you answer that question. Here's what's happening Wednesday:
In his new book, "Griftopia: Bubble Machines, Vampire Squids, and the Long Con That Is Breaking America," Rolling Stone's rabble-rousing polemicist returns with a text that links the financial crisis to politics. He's good for a sound bite, even if you don't always agree with his politics. 7 p.m.
Neko Case is coming to D.C., but she won't be with the New Pornographers, and you won't find her on stage at the 9:30 Club or Black Cat. Case appears tonight at National Geographic's Grosvenor Auditorium as part of the institution's ongoing "Music on Photography" series, where she will discuss her passion for lo-fi digital and Polaroid photography alongside National Geographic's Juliet Blake at 7:30 p.m.
Philadelphia crams all the calling cards of '70s arena rock into a tidy package of oversize hooks, synchronized guitar solos and stoner poetry. With Hollerado and Spirit Animal at the Rock and Roll Hotel at 8:30 p.m.
