In the rumor mill: Chipotle's Asian concept coming to D.C.?
About a month ago, news broke that Chipotle, the Denver-based kings of Mexican fast-casual fare, were working on a similarly structured Asian concept. We weren't paying it much heed until New York Magazine's Grub Street blog, in a post on James Beard Rising Star chef Nate Appleman's unlikely new job with Chipotle, mentioned that the new concept will debut in the District.
Corporate spokesman Chris Arnold confirmed that the company is planning a 2011 restaurant opening, but wouldn't say whether it will happen in the District.
So, readers, we ask you: Is there room in your life (and neighborhood) for a teriyaki rice bowl?

The answer is yes. And I hope Chipotle's execs read this. We are in DIRE need of food places around the Nationals Park/DDOT/Near SE area. Chipotle or even its Asian counterpart would be extremely welcome! (We have a lot of young professionals with disposable income down here!)
