Today in Food: Food trucks fight the elements

Today's Food section contains an excellent file by Tim Carman on the the struggles food truck vendors face gathering crowds during the coldest months of the year. Our food truck tracker is a good way to keep up with which trucks are defying the dropping temperatures.

Tom Sietsema still mourns the passing of K street vegetarian restaurant Nirvana, but finds consolation the the excellent dosas offered at the recently opened offshoot Nirvana Express.

Jason Wilson tells a harrowing tale of a tasting dinner designed around pairings with the flavors of the now banned "malternative" beverage Four Loko. Luckily for us this transitions into a report on the return of a once-banned spirit of repute: Poland's Zubrowka vodka. Track it and other hard to find vodkas down at Russia House.

Tiffany MacIsaac, pastry chef at Birch and Barley and Buzz Bakery, reveals her recipe for delicious pecan toffee sticky buns.

And finally, Catherine Zuckerman talks up the house-made gyro at Bethesda's Yamas Mediterranean Grill.
