Friday Night Eclectic returns to Strathmore in January
Strathmore's Friday Night Eclectic returns on Jan. 21 and boasts a lineup that should appeal to concert-goers who usually spend their weekends on U Street or H Street instead of North Bethesda. The weekly concerts at Strathmore's mansion feature an impressive array of local talent in hip-hop, indie, Latin and folk.
The series kicks off with performances by local rappers X.O. and RAtheMC, who made two of the five best hip-hop albums to come out of D.C. in 2010. Other artists scheduled to perform include the aptly named Funk Ark (Feb. 25) and salsa dance-floor kings Sin Miedo (April 8), both veterans of this past summer's Going Out Guide concerts at Carter Barron. Bellflur (Feb. 11) appeared on our best local rock list; Junior League Band (March 4) was among the best of local alt-country.
All concerts start at 9 p.m. and cost $12 ($10 in advance). You can snag $2 PBRs during a pre-show happy hour from 8-9. View the full schedule here.

Hey, David,
I enjoyed your blog on the Friday Night Eclectic at Strathmore. I would love to see my favorite local musician Margot MacDonald perform as part of this series. She's constantly reinventing herself and pushing the envelope with edgy new stuff. I'm always telling my friends if they haven't caught a show lately, they really don't know what she's all about.
Hope to run into you at a show,
Den
