Gallery opening of the week: Blank Space SE
Blank Space SE will host a free open house Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., including a one-day-only exhibition of photography by Critical Exposure, a local nonprofit group that teaches young people to use documentary photography as a tool of social change.
What is Blank Space SE? True to its name, the Anacostia pop-up space (created in October) hopes to provide a temporary venue - or empty canvas - for visual artists, performers and arts organizations looking for a short-term creative home.
The open house, at 1922 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, will feature a performance from 5 to 7 p.m. by Urban Artistry, a nonprofit collective of dancers, artists, historians, musicians, folklorists and documentary filmmakers.
