Gallery opening of the night: 'New Artists, New Art'

"May 2010," a painting by Ryan McCoy, features pine needles, ash and rust, among other strange materials, worked into acrylic paint. (From Ryan McCoy)
Looking for an outing tonight? Long View Gallery is celebrating its new exhibit and, yes, new additions to its roster of artists. The group show features work by Ryan McCoy, Shaun Richards, Shawna Moore, Michelle Peterson-Albandoz and a handful of others working in varied mediums, ranging from wax-and-pigment-based encaustic to pine needles. If you haven't been to the gallery, it's also a great opportunity to check out D.C.'s coolest art spaces.
The reception tonight is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is free; the show is up through March 13.
