Getting Up Guide: Pay tribute to Tony Hawk, Robert Johnson

By Alex Baldinger

A quick look at some of Thursday evening's happenings; for more, check out Nightlife Agenda:

Tony Hawk portrait talk
If the terms Kickflip McTwist or Fingerflip Airwalk mean anything to you, you shouldn't miss National Portrait Gallery curator Frank Goodyear's discussion of the skateboarding pioneer, whose image hangs in the museum, at 6 p.m.

Blues at the Crossroads: Robert Johnson Centennial Concert
The famed Delta bluesman is feted at this tribute performance featuring sets by Big Head Todd & the Monsters, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Hubert Sumlin and Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm. 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore.

Painted Face
Transplanted Brooklynite Allie Alvarado now calls the D.C. area home, and she is quickly gaining buzz for her bright, bursty electro-pop songs, which she performs under the moniker Painted Face. With Darwin Deez, 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat.
