War Profits
The Army Criminal Investigation Command has conducted 168 probes over the past three years. Almost 100 of those cases are pending.
One of them involves questions about whether defense contractor Combat Support Associates, which has made $2 billion-plus supporting troops in Iraq, has overcharged the U.S. government, according to a story by the Associated Press.
"Combat Support Associates was formed in 1998 by AECOM Government Services of Fort Worth, Texas, and two other companies _ Research and Analysis Maintenance of El Paso, Texas, and Space Mark Inc. of Alaska.
"In July 1999, Combat Support Associates was selected for a Camp Doha support contract, a 10-year deal potentially worth $547 million. In March 2003, when U.S. forces invaded Iraq, demand for the company's maintenance and repair services increased dramatically as bases across Kuwait became hubs of activity for American troops.
"The value of the contract ballooned as well: $2.2 billion has been spent between 1999 and 2008 on the Combat Support Associates contract."
The AP said the company is cooperating witht the investigation.

Why are the Democrats responsible? Sure, they have a majority in Congress, but every bill they pass, "W" vetos and they can't override his veto without the cooperation of the Republicans, who won't.
When a bill is pending and it looks like it will pass, the White House sends over the goon squad to tell them that it will be vetoed as soon as it lands on "W"'s desk. So, why pass the bill when you know it is going to be vetoed?
Come next January, with a Democratic Congress and a Democrat in the White House, you can then blame them. Just remember that for 22 of the past 28 years there has been a Republican in the White House and for 12 of the past 14 years, the Republicans have had control of congress.

War profiteering was going on in the Revolutionary War & was a major catastrophy in the war between the States(locally known as" the war of northern aggression"). Gen. Grant had lots of problems with it. Unfortunately, there is little record of the profiteers being stood up & shot for treason, which is what it is. I guess the Congress figures taxpayers just want to be done with it. Besides, it make the rich, richer & gives jobs to the military retirees & ex-pols.Probably a good trade-off.

Of course, the Neo-Con plants and the right wing zealots drag out the old tired.."it's the Democrats fault...always, always...yep" - the Democrats are big business and the Democrats are deregulators...McCain is a Democrat and Bush must be too....
Oh yeah, I have that mixed up....
hmmmmm. Who is it that was the CEO for Haliburton and had them buy KB&R, the corporation that has provided hookers to the troops since WWII?
No war, they were going under
SO buy'em up and create a war but conveniently make it so you don't have to "sell" your stock...
Have to make it look legit, so why not investigate the companies that have $2.2 Billion in contracts and not the ones that have $200 billion contracts......Make it look like they are tough on profiteers but let Haliburton run off to Dubai to avoid prosecution and continue to keep Blackwater and KB&R on the Government breast.
When she screams, blame it on the Democrats....sounds good.
Remember how the Neo-Cons operate, please -
- THEY will say anything and they think you are stupid and they will blame everything on the Democrats...

War profiteers and not a word about Blackwater? Are the Bush administration's favorite mercenaries going to escape criticism over their all too generous no-bid contracts, or is the State Department too busy covering up those seventeen murders that are being investigated against Blackwater? Eric Prince, Blackwater's CEO, knows the value of being plugged in to the White House and of course as a right-wing religious wacko, he also has god on his side.
