Two Good, Open Government Pros

In their own dogged ways, they both contributed to an informed, civil society. They kept watch on the government, one from the outside, the other from within.

Both men died on Friday.

John Wilke was an investigative reporter for the Wall Street Journal who wrote about fraud, waste, abuse, antitrust matters and much more.

Chris Bolkcom was a respected researcher at Congressional Research Service, whose examinations touched on American air power in counterinsurgency operations, threats to commercial aviation from shoulder-fired missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and much more.
