Pelosi Signals Health Plan Could Be Funded by Tax Increase
By Ceci Connolly
As if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn't have enough on her plate these days, the California Democrat has waded into tax-increase territory too.
In the midst of fielding pesky questions yesterday about what the CIA did or did not tell her about harsh interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, Pelosi was asked if House Democrats "have the political will to raise taxes" to pay for a broad expansion of health coverage.
Yes indeed, she said, according to a report from our colleague Paul Kane. "We're putting everything on the table," Pelosi said.
Turns out, over on the Senate side of the Capitol, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) used almost the exact same phrase to signal that raising taxes remains an option.

I know this is a fairly old post but I couldn't resist. Nancy Pelosi should poke her head out of her world of make believe and swallow a good dose of reality! She and I are from sunny state of California. California's Gov. Arnold and our state legislators are wanting the federal government to bail us out because we are drowning in debt. How can she possibly want to increase taxes when our country is in a deep recession, especially California. California's unemployment rate is at 11.2% and still spiraling out of control. People are moving out of our state because of job losses and increase in taxes.

Hmmm... Health Care for All Americans is Simple! 1) Merge Medicare with Medicaide into one single "Income Based" system for elderly and poor citizens. 2) Require insurance companies to provide the same basic coverage for all Non-Medicare/Medicaide citizens, regardless of health status, at affordable rates. 3) Allow insurance companies to profit by offering additional benefits and options to those who qualify and are willing to pay the difference. As for Funding... 1) Changing from an "Emergency Treatment" to a "Preventive Care" system will save local communities billions, maybe even trillions of taxpayer dollars! 2) Small business will be able to compete globally and hire additional taxpaying employees! 3) Wealthy seniors will pay their fair share! 4) The tremendous burden on future generations will be greatly reduced!
