White House Rebuts Claims on Health Care Reform
By Ceci Connolly
The White House continued its counter-assault Monday against what it calls “outrageous claims” about President Obama’s efforts to overhaul the U.S. health system.
In an email message to supporters, senior adviser David Axelrod introduces a new online feature the administration has dubbed “Reality Check.”
Much of the pushback is focused on reassuring senior citizens, who are overwhelmingly opposed to comprehensive health-reform legislation, according to several polls.
The new web page offers a collection of videos of administration officials rebutting criticism that reform could mean fewer health benefits for veterans, the elderly or small businesses.
“We’ve been really surprised about some of the wild rumors that we’ve heard flying around,” domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes says in one video intended to debunk reports that the House bill would mandate end-of-life counseling for all Medicare beneficiaries.
“There’s absolutely nothing mandatory about this,” she says.
The new site also includes links to Obama’s recent town hall meeting with members of AARP, the seniors advocacy group. “Nobody is talking about reducing Medicare benefits,” Obama says in one clip from the hour long session.
In another, the president describes a letter he received from a woman who said, “I don’t want government-run health care; I don’t want socialized medicine and don’t touch my Medicare.” Then, with a sly grin, Obama adds: “I wanted to say, well you know, that’s what Medicare is, you know, government-run health care, that people are very happy with.”

Yes, we all received David Axlerod's email. But I want to bring to your attention something important. We must pressure the White House to back out of its alleged deal with PHRMA. This $80 Billion plus $500,000 advertising support seems to be in exchange for preventing any price negotiation with PHRMA.
This is a BAD DEAL, and it is how GW created the Medicare prescription donut hole (Medicare Part D).
Tell the WH to back out of this deal.

They will get rid of Medicare advantage which will save Medicare over 100 billion dollars. Medicare advantage enriches the private insurance companies.

what Mr Alexrod fails to mention is where are the doctors to take care of people in the new system that won't go to the ER but instead the doctors' office. You want to see rationing? Wait until you see wait times in 4 years for a doctors appointment when 50 million are thrown in an already crowded system.

OBAMA CANNOT BE BELIEVED
A "community organizer" who spent 65% of his adult life running for political office, from a one-party dictatorship (Daley/Chicago) with 67% of recent governors in jail -- who would believe him?
Fools. With no common sense.
The Obama crew makes FANNIE/FREDDIE seem like baby-sitting.

No politician will admit the truth about health care, because voters don't want to hear it. America cannot afford to provide every medical procedure known to science to every American. Period. Know why you and/or your friends are unemployed? Because your (former) boss can't afford to pay for both your salary and your health insurance. If the government doesn't take over health care, we are all going to lose our jobs. So stop whining about socialism and government takeovers and pray the government DOES take it over before we all declare bankruptcy from overwhelming health care costs. Stop asking whether the government plan is better or worse than the insurance you have now. You aren't going to still have the same insurance after the next renewal (or union contract) anyway. You want to keep the status quo? Too bad, we can't afford it. No politician will tell you that. I just did. Will likely get me what it got Mondale. But at least we have our pride intact. Obama has sold out for political expediencey. So much for him being willing to tell the hard truths.

Nothing obama says has any meaning if he can't be trusted.
Watch this video. You’ll see obama lie like a dog in his very own words.

As Obama works towards getting better healthcare for Americans, the republicans have gone after him disgracefully.
Just like the Clintons, only more hatefull because Obama is black. A frenzy of angry hatred disguised as fear of death panels.
A few dozen loudmouths screaming threats and making outlandish claims that only a real nutcase would listen to are attempting to block the improvements to health care that I would be so happy to have.
What in God's name is wrong with your Doctor helping you decide how to procede with your end of life medical treatment?
Making the health insurance companies pay for such a visit is what has been twisted into the rebirth of Auschwiz.
What could possibly be wrong with not allowing insurance companies to exclude preexisting conditions?
How does it hurt the nation when the government is allowed to bargain for better prices from the pharma companies? Being the biggest customer they have, why should the government give up the quantity discount that every good business takes. Is saving taxpayers money a dark sinister plot?
It's dissappointing that people who are old enough to know better are so gullible as to believe that the government is going to order them killed at age 65.
Just who would enforce such a monstrosity of a law? Not our police or soldiers. Not anyone, because it's a fantasy.
The people who dreamed up this whole death panel thing should remember what the Bible says about passing false information.

The press should be the first to oblige President Obama in his call for honesty over the health care debate. Mr. Shear is not being honest when he writes for the Washington Post that the “Death Panel” idea stems from provisions in a bill. They come from President Obama and his chosen advisors.
In an interview with The New York Times on April 14th, the president said, “It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance.” This was in response to his grandmother getting an expensive hip replacement in her final weeks of life and the cost to benefit reasoning that will have to take place on behalf of the taxpayer.
This “independent group” is where the idea of a death panel sprung from. This is not irrational fears or the opposition creating a bogyman to scare people. The president himself put the notion forward. His advisors didn't help him dispel the idea.
The very people advising and influencing him have aired similar needs when talking about public financed health care. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has been appointed by President Obama to health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget. He is no mere acquaintance and his opinions effect policy. The doctor's advice is to reserve health care for those of us who are “non-disabled.” Dementia was specifically identified by him as an obvious condition which negates a person's deservedness for health care in the Hastings Center Report, Nov-Dec '96.
All this being said, government run health care will not be administered universally. Due to budget constraints, some will get enough while others will be denied. The quality gap between the rich and poor will be wide and guaranteed. President Obama was right in saying he would have paid out of his pocket for his grandmother's hip replacement because it would have provided her comfort. Only the wealthy can afford this, the rest of us will have to depend on an “independent group.”

The problem with these ads and the dems with their talking points in the townhalls is that it is contrary to what is in the H.R.3200 bill. What would you expect from the citizens when they see their representatives stand up there with what are, in effect, lies? As for the end of life issues, the bills leave it open for interpretation but what kind of decision do you think will come from a people(in Obama admin) who are pro abortion and profess belief in putting a dollar value on age (too young or over 70 get min care). We already know that, for serious illness, the universal health care systems provide less survival rate care than what we have here in the U.S.A. The dems have voted down proposed amendments that address the issues that are being raised in the townhalls, so why should the people believe the dems or those ads?
